Dam Breach Triggers Evacuations as Heavy Rains Batter Southern China

Jarida Report

Hundreds of residents were evacuated after floodwaters breached a reservoir dam in southern China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region amid days of heavy rainfall, local media reported on Monday.

The breach occurred at the Liulan Reservoir in Nanning, prompting authorities to raise the city’s flood emergency response to the highest Level I.

Emergency management, fire rescue and water resources teams were deployed to carry out rescue operations and evacuate residents from affected areas.

Officials said torrential rain has affected most parts of Nanning since Saturday, with some areas experiencing exceptionally heavy downpours.
