Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Amjad Hussain was sworn in as the new chief minister of Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday.
Governor Syed Mehdi Shah administered the oath at a ceremony attended by senior political leaders and officials, including PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
In his inaugural address, Hussain called for progress on Gilgit-Baltistan’s constitutional status, urging the country’s political leadership to advance the region towards provisional provincial status.
He said his government’s priorities would include constitutional reforms, addressing funding and energy challenges, promoting economic development, and expanding tourism, mining, hydropower, agriculture, regional connectivity and governance reforms.
