England advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup with a 3-2 victory over Mexico in their Round of 16 match in Mexico City.
Jude Bellingham scored twice in the first half to give England a 2-0 lead before Julián Quiñones reduced the deficit ahead of halftime. England were reduced to 10 men after Jarell Quansah was sent off following a VAR review in the second half.
Harry Kane converted a penalty in the 60th minute to restore England’s two-goal advantage, before Raúl Jiménez scored from the penalty spot nine minutes later to make it 3-2. Despite late pressure from the hosts, England held on to secure the win.
England will face Norway in the quarterfinals, while co-host Mexico exit the tournament.
