Claude Guillemot, one of the co-founders of Ubisoft has died in a light aircraft crash in France, local media reported.
The aircraft, owned by Guillemot, crashed in a field near La Baule Airport on June 19. Guillemot and a flight instructor were on board at the time of the accident.
In a statement to Bloomberg and other media outlets, Ubisoft said: “Ubisoft is deeply saddened to learn of the tragic death of Claude Guillemot, a co-founder of the Group and Chairman of Guillemot Corporation. We extend our deepest condolences to his family and loved ones during this difficult time.”
The company added that it would not be making any further comment.
Ubisoft, one of France’s leading video game developers, was founded in 1986 by five Guillemot brothers, including Claude. His brother, Yves Guillemot, currently serves as the company’s CEO, while Claude was Chairman of Guillemot Corporation.
