US President Donald Trump said on Monday that oil shipments had begun moving through the Strait of Hormuz following the announcement of an agreement between the United States and Iran to end the conflict.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said vessels carrying oil were leaving the strategic waterway via what he described as a secure southern route.
“Ships are starting to move, many loaded up with Oil, out of the Strait of Hormuz. They are going along the Southern ‘Highway,’ which is totally safe, secure, and pristine,” Trump wrote.
“There are other areas of travel, also!!!” he added.
The Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most important energy corridors, carrying a significant share of global oil exports. The resumption of shipping is expected to ease concerns over energy supplies and regional trade routes.
