US President Donald Trump claimed on Monday that Iran was “completely collapsing” as hostilities between Washington and Tehran continued alongside mounting US economic pressure.
“IRAN IS COMPLETELY COLLAPSING!!!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform, without providing further details to support the assertion.
The comments followed remarks by US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, who said on Sunday that Washington was entering what he described as an “economic D-Day” against Iran.
Bessent claimed the Trump administration had severely weakened Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities.
“President Trump has dismantled Iran’s military capabilities, destroyed nearly 100 per cent of its military factories, and buried its nuclear programme,” Bessent said in a post on X.
Washington has also been tightening economic measures against Tehran as it seeks to increase pressure on the Iranian government.
Trump said on Friday that he continued to believe Iran was not yet prepared to make what he called “the right deal” with the United States, suggesting that Washington would maintain pressure until Tehran changed its position.
