Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Monday that 10 Ukrainian servicemen had been returned from Russian captivity through Belarus as part of a special phase of the prisoner exchange process.
In a statement on Telegram, Zelenskyy said the returned personnel were members of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and National Guard who had fought in the Donetsk region.
All 10 servicemen had previously been listed as missing in action, he said.
“All of them were considered missing in action. And it is very important that we managed to bring them back,” Zelenskyy said.
The Ukrainian president thanked those involved in securing the servicemen’s release and said efforts were continuing to locate and bring home Ukrainians who remain in captivity.
