US President Donald Trump said on Monday that Iran had made concessions during ongoing nuclear negotiations but acknowledged that the proposals had not yet been finalised.
Speaking to reporters at the White House, Trump said the United States expected Iran to honour the concessions and reiterated that Washington would seek control of Tehran’s stockpile of highly enriched uranium, although Iran has not publicly confirmed such an agreement.
Trump also said the objective of the recent conflict with Iran had not been regime change and expressed optimism that the two sides could reach a deal.
“We’re close to maybe making a deal,” Trump said, adding that the United States would either reach an agreement or “finish the job.”
