US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that the newly announced agreement with Iran would remain intact even if tensions escalate between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump expressed confidence that the broader accord with Tehran could withstand regional instability.
Asked whether the agreement could survive an Israeli military operation in Lebanon, Trump replied: “It can.”
“I consider that the minor war,” he said, referring to the conflict involving Hezbollah. “Iran’s the big one, but we have that little pinprick out there that constantly rears its head and that’s Hezbollah.”
The comments come amid continued uncertainty over the situation on the Israel-Lebanon border despite recent diplomatic progress between Washington and Tehran.
