SUPARCO Predicts Low Chances of Muharram Moon Sighting on June 15

Jarida Report

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission said on Sunday that the chances of sighting the Muharram crescent on June 15 are extremely low, making it likely that Zil Hajj 1447 AH will complete 30 days.

According to a SUPARCO spokesperson, the moon of Muharram 1448 AH will be born at 7:54am on June 15, but the possibility of observing the crescent in Pakistan later that evening remains very limited.

Based on current astronomical calculations, 1 Muharram is expected to fall on June 17.

If that is confirmed by the official moon-sighting process, Youm-e-Ashura will be observed on Friday, June 26.
