An Additional District and Sessions Court South on Thursday acquitted Anmol alias “Pinky” in three narcotics cases registered against her at Gizri police station.
Pinky was arrested in May after police accused her of operating an organised narcotics supply network allegedly extending from Karachi to Lahore, Islamabad and other cities.
She was taken into custody during a joint operation by city police and another agency at an apartment in Karachi’s Garden area. Investigators had alleged that she was involved in a sophisticated cocaine processing and delivery operation.
According to police, the three cases at the centre of Thursday’s ruling were registered at Gizri police station in 2020, 2021 and 2022, while Pinky was considered a fugitive.
During proceedings, her defence counsel argued that two co-accused, Ali and Fehmida, had already been acquitted in 2024.
The lawyer maintained that Pinky had been implicated on the basis of statements by the co-accused and argued that their subsequent acquittals had undermined the prosecution’s case against her.
“After the acquittal of the co-accused, there is no possibility of the accused being convicted in the case,” the defence counsel argued.
The court subsequently acquitted Pinky in all three cases.
