Sindh Restores Saturday Holiday, Extends School Hours on Weekdays

Jarida Report

The Sindh government has restored the weekly Saturday holiday in all public and private schools across the province, while extending teaching hours by one hour on working days to make up for lost classroom time.

The revised schedule was announced on Wednesday by Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah, who said the decision had been approved by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah.

Under the new arrangement, schools will remain closed on Saturdays, with an additional hour added to the school day from Monday to Friday.

The education minister said the move is intended to improve learning outcomes, ensure the effective delivery of academic activities, and enable teachers to complete the prescribed syllabus within the academic year.

He added that the decision forms part of the provincial government’s austerity measures, while ensuring that students’ education is not adversely affected.
