Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) held demonstrations across Sindh on Wednesday to mark three years since the imprisonment of party founder Imran Khan, with supporters demanding his release.
In Karachi, party workers attempted to gather near the Karachi Press Club, where senior PTI leaders, including Sindh President Haleem Adil Sheikh, led the demonstration.
The party alleged that authorities blocked roads leading to the Press Club by placing containers, resulting in traffic congestion in parts of Saddar and preventing protesters from reaching the venue.
According to PTI, demonstrators later assembled near Zaibunnisa Street and Fawara Chowk. The party further alleged that police used tear gas and baton charges to disperse the gathering, leaving several workers injured. The allegations could not be independently verified.
PTI said similar demonstrations were held in Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Nawabshah, Umerkot, Mithi and other parts of Sindh to demand Khan’s release.
