Disney, TikTok Partner to Bring Film and TV Content to Creators

Jarida Report

The Walt Disney Company and TikTok on Wednesday announced a global partnership that will allow eligible creators to produce short-form videos using content from Disney’s films and television productions.

The programme will begin with a pilot in the United States over the coming months before expanding to additional markets.

Under the agreement, participating creators will have access to content from Disney’s extensive entertainment catalogue, including franchises such as Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and FX, enabling them to incorporate approved scenes, characters and story elements into their videos.

The creator-produced content will be published on TikTok and featured in a curated feed on Verts, the vertical-video section of the Disney+ mobile app. Disney said the feed will be updated regularly to reflect trending fan discussions and encourage viewers to explore more of its content.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the partnership.

“The best storytellers are fans first,” said Disney Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz, adding that the collaboration would strengthen the connection between Disney’s stories and fan creativity.

TikTok Global Head of Entertainment Dawn Yang said creators play an important role in extending the cultural impact of films and television programmes by generating discussions that reach wider audiences.

As part of the partnership, Disney and TikTok will also launch a Disney Creator Ambassador Program, offering selected creators greater visibility, invitations to exclusive events, professional development opportunities and other benefits.

The two companies said fan-created content has become an increasingly important way for audiences to discover and engage with entertainment.
