Sindh High Court Orders Immediate Setup of Anti-Narcotics Courts and Appointment of Judges

Jarida Report

On May 2, 2025, the Sindh High Court directed the provincial government to immediately establish Special Courts for Control of Narcotic Substances (CNS) and appoint judges without delay. This directive came after actor Sahir Hasan was granted bail in a drug case, highlighting the absence of functioning CNS courts despite the enactment of the Sindh Control of Narcotic Substances Act, 2024. The court emphasized that the failure to establish these courts deprives accused individuals of their constitutional right to a fair and timely trial.
