Two specialists from Shifa International Hospital participated in the eye examination of PTI founder Imran Khan at PIMS, the hospital administration said on Saturday.
According to a statement issued by the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), the former prime minister was brought to the hospital during the night of August 20-21 for medical examination and treatment.
The Shifa specialists examined Khan’s eyes, while doctors from PIMS carried out the other required medical assessments.
The findings of the eye specialists were considered alongside the results of other investigations before a medical board comprising PIMS doctors finalised Khan’s medical fitness report.
PIMS said it would not release details of the report, citing patient confidentiality and directions issued by the Supreme Court.
Earlier this week, the Supreme Court had ordered authorities to transfer Khan to Shifa International Hospital for a comprehensive medical examination. The court also directed that he be given access to a medical panel that included his personal physician.
Khan was, however, taken to PIMS instead of Shifa on Thursday night.
Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the decision to change hospitals was made because of a “security situation created by PTI workers” along the route planned for Khan’s transfer.
