Tarar Accuses PTI of Politicising Imran Khan’s Health

Jarida Report

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar on Saturday accused Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of politicising the health of its founder Imran Khan, maintaining that the government had fully complied with the Supreme Court’s directions concerning his medical examination.

Tarar also alleged that PTI itself had committed contempt of court through statements and actions surrounding the former prime minister’s medical treatment.

Earlier this week, the Supreme Court ordered authorities to transfer Imran to Shifa International Hospital for treatment for several days and directed that weekly meetings with his family be facilitated.

The government subsequently filed a review petition against the order, describing it as “discriminatory in nature”.

Imran was, however, taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) instead of Shifa International Hospital.

Tarar said in a post on X that the PTI founder underwent a medical examination at PIMS, where doctors declared him medically fit before he was returned to Adiala Jail.

The decision to take Imran to PIMS rather than the hospital specified in the Supreme Court order has drawn criticism from PTI and other opposition parties.

PTI has disputed the government’s claim of compliance and has approached the Supreme Court over what it alleges was a violation of the court’s directions.
