WARSAW: Polish police have arrested several young people, mainly over threats linked to school attacks, as authorities respond to online rumours of a “Bloody Friday” following two stabbing incidents at schools within two days.
Social media posts have circulated claims of an online challenge potentially linked to the attacks. Police said on Friday that their investigations had found no evidence supporting the existence of such a challenge.
The incidents have prompted a nationwide security response, with police deployed to around 10,000 schools to help prevent further violence and reassure students and staff.
The government has also warned against spreading misinformation, citing concerns that rumours could fuel public panic or encourage copycat attacks.
