KARACHI: Three children were killed and a man critically injured after a wall of a Union Council office collapsed onto a rickshaw in the Bakra Piri area of Malir on Friday, police and rescue officials said.
The wall belonged to Union Committee No. 2 under the Malir Town Municipal Corporation. According to initial reports, one child died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries while being taken to hospital.
The deceased were identified as 12-year-old Abraj, six-year-old Abiyaz and a 13-year-old boy whose identity had not been confirmed.
Police and rescue teams reached the site following the incident. An investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the collapse.
The incident comes days after a security guard was killed when part of an under-construction bridge on Karachi’s Red Line Bus Rapid Transit project collapsed near Bait-ul-Mukarram Mosque in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on October 1.
