The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has issued a notification approving an increase of Rs2.37 per unit in electricity tariffs under the monthly fuel price adjustment for September 2026.
The additional charges will apply to relevant electricity consumers across Pakistan, including those served by K-Electric in Karachi, and will be reflected in their November 2026 electricity bills.
According to the notification, the increase was approved following a review of the fuel adjustment request submitted by the Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA).
The CPPA had initially sought a tariff increase of Rs2.56 per unit for September. However, after conducting a hearing and examining the request, NEPRA approved a slightly lower adjustment of Rs2.37 per unit.
The latest increase follows an earlier fuel price adjustment for August 2026, when electricity tariffs were raised by Rs1.11 per unit. That additional charge was collected through consumers’ October bills.
Electricity consumers are also already paying an additional Rs0.52 per unit under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
The newly approved fuel adjustment will therefore place further financial pressure on households and businesses already facing elevated electricity costs.
With the September adjustment scheduled for collection in November, consumers can expect higher electricity bills as the additional charges take effect.
