The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a public holiday across the province on the occasion of 1st Muharram 1448 Hijri.
The decision was conveyed through a notification issued by the provincial Administration Department.
According to the notification, government offices and public institutions throughout the province will remain closed in observance of the Islamic New Year.
The Administration Department said the holiday is part of official arrangements marking the beginning of the new Hijri year.
The provincial government, however, clarified that implementation of the holiday will be subject to the official announcement regarding the sighting of the Muharram moon.
