ISPR to Brief Media on Balochistan Security Situation

Jarida Report

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry is expected to brief the media shortly on the latest security situation in Balochistan amid a recent surge in militant violence.

Pakistan has witnessed a rise in terrorist attacks, particularly in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, prompting intensified counterterrorism operations by security forces.

The briefing comes after a recent UN Security Council report highlighted continued attacks by the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) against Pakistani security forces and projects linked to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The report cited the September 2025 ambush of a military convoy, which killed 32 troops, and the March 2025 hijacking of the Jaffar Express that left 31 people dead, including 21 hostages. It also noted reports from some member states alleging cooperation between the BLA, the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Islamic State Khorasan (ISIL-K) through shared training camps and resources.

The UN report further stated that militant groups operating in the region had acquired advanced weapons through cross-border smuggling and black-market networks, including assault rifles, night-vision equipment, thermal imaging devices and drone systems.
