Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian is expected to undertake a one-day visit to Pakistan on Tuesday, government sources in Islamabad told Anadolu on Monday.
If confirmed, the trip would mark Pezeshkian’s first overseas visit since the United States and Israel launched military operations against Iran in late February. An official announcement from either government is still awaited.
Pakistan has played a central mediating role since the April 8 ceasefire, helping facilitate the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran and hosting efforts that culminated in direct talks in Switzerland over the weekend.
During the visit, Pezeshkian is expected to hold separate meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The discussions are expected to build on the progress made during the quadrilateral talks involving the United States, Iran, Pakistan and Qatar held in Bürgenstock on Sunday.
