Husband, Domestic Worker Arrested After Woman Found Dead in Rawalpindi Apartment

Jarida Report

Police have registered a murder case after a 45-year-old woman was found dead under suspicious circumstances inside an apartment in Rawalpindi’s Askari Apartments area.

Civil Lines police arrested the victim’s husband, Dr Faisal Asghar Imam, and a domestic worker, Zeeshan Arshad, in connection with the case.

The victim’s father-in-law, retired Colonel Asghar Ali Fayyaz, has also been named in the First Information Report (FIR) but has not been taken into custody.

The woman, who worked for a semi-government organisation, had married Imam in November 2025. Her brother, Fahad Javed Malik, lodged the complaint after receiving an early-morning call from Fayyaz informing him of an emergency at the apartment.

When family members reached the second-floor residence, they discovered the woman dead inside the bathroom.

According to the FIR, her hands had been tied behind her back, her mouth was gagged and a wire was wrapped around her neck and attached to the shower. Blood was also reportedly visible around her mouth.

The complainant alleged that Imam had severely assaulted his wife before her death and claimed she had previously experienced physical and psychological abuse during their marriage.

Police have taken the two suspects into custody as the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death continues.
