French Woman Rescued from Alleged Domestic Abuse in Khyber District

Jarida Report

Police in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa rescued a French national during a raid in the Bara area of Khyber district after receiving credible intelligence that she was allegedly being subjected to domestic violence.

The woman, identified as 54-year-old Sylvie Yasmina, was taken into protective custody during the operation.

According to police, Yasmina married a Pakistani man and had been living in Bara since 2014. The couple has five children, one of whom is deaf and mute.

During initial questioning, Yasmina told investigators she had suffered prolonged abuse at the hands of her husband and had not been allowed to leave the house.

Police transferred Yasmina and four of her children to the Women Police Station in Peshawar for protection and further legal proceedings.

Authorities said the French citizen has expressed a strong desire to return to France, while an investigation is underway and legal action against the suspect is being pursued.
