The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is pushing US President Donald Trump to convince Israel to release him. "We also call on the president to demand that Israel release Dr Hussam Abu Safiya and all other kidnapped medical professionals." Al Jazeera says it is unclear whether he will be released as part of the ceasefire deal. However, Israeli publication Haaretz has reported that he was among five extra names approved overnight by the Israeli Government to be added to the list of Palestinian prisoners set for release

The Finance Division put out a press release regarding Muhammad Aurangzeb, the finance minister's first day during his official visit to the United States where he met with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour. The press release said "The finance minister and his delegation had a key meeting with Azour. Both sides exchanged views on Pakistan's reform agenda and reaffirmed their shared commitment to sustaining the current momentum of reforms". It also said that the meeting looked at progress in the second review of the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) and recognized the "importance of maintaining macroeconomic discipline"
