Lahore Schools Shut Down Because of Security Threats and Ongoing Protests
All colleges, and schools in Lahore were ordered by the Punjab government to shut down for an 1 day because of enhanced security threats due to mass-scale TLP-organized protests. The protests have also caused serious traffic disruptions and sporadic clashes across the city.
Authorities ordered schools to dismiss students early and close immediately, with examinations rescheduled for safety. Although other districts in the area such as Jhelum have also closed schools for precaution, Rawalpindi reopened tentatively after a better security assessment. Authorities clarify that the shutdown is only temporary and based on pure safety needs, and request that parents and students only take credible information released by government or school administration into account.
