Acting Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) President Chaudhry Latif Akbar on Sunday alleged that workers of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) attacked him during polling for the AJK elections, claiming one of his party workers was killed in the incident.
In a video statement, Akbar said he had feared such an attack before visiting the polling station.
He alleged that PML-N workers assaulted him, subjected him to violence and fled the scene while carrying weapons.
Akbar further claimed that PML-N workers opened fire, resulting in the death of one of his party workers.
He also alleged that PPP polling agents were prevented from taking their positions at several polling stations during the election.
The acting AJK president claimed those responsible for what he described as attempts to disrupt the electoral process were backed by federal ministers.
He demanded that terrorism cases be registered against those allegedly involved in the attack on him and in the killing of his party worker.
Akbar also criticised the ruling party, alleging that the PML-N could not win elections through votes.
The PML-N had not issued an immediate response to the allegations.
