The United States Embassy announced on Wednesday that it will resume regular consular services at its missions in Lahore and Karachi from July 20, months after operations were suspended over security concerns.
Routine consular services were halted in March following violent anti-US protests that erupted after the US-Israeli strikes on Iran in February. The demonstrations included an attack on the outer perimeter of the US Consulate in Karachi, where US Marine Security Guards opened fire, leaving at least 10 protesters dead, according to local officials.
In a post on X, the US Embassy in Islamabad said the consulates in Lahore and Karachi will resume regular services for US citizens as well as non-immigrant visa processing from July 20.
