The Trump-backed Board of Peace has said Hamas’s decision to dissolve its governing body in Gaza highlights the need to finalise negotiations on a post-war roadmap for the Palestinian territory.
In a statement, the board said completing the remaining implementation measures would enable a technocratic committee to assume civilian administration, begin the disarmament process and facilitate Israel’s military withdrawal.
Board of Peace envoy for Gaza Nikolay Mladenov said Hamas’s decision underscored the importance of concluding talks on Gaza’s future governance.
In a post on X, Mladenov described the proposed roadmap as “the bridge between declarations and implementation,” saying its completion is essential to translate political agreements into practical action.
