Pakistani Bureaucracy UNESCO’s Newest (and Slowest) Heritage Site

Pakistani Bureaucracy: Dear Pakistanis, congratulations on this latest milestone that your country has achieved. Finally, the world pays attention to your most overlooked national heritage — the bureaucracy, along with its values of bribery, incompetence, and delayed mechanisms, preserved with utmost responsibility by every generation of government officials who would grow so busy with this national duty that they would become uncountable and unreachable for the ordinary people. Your “gora syndrome” finally is treated after the discriminating white men-led international organisations ignored your national heritage of a British-era bureaucracy that the generations before you have been preserving successfully, and you also aim to carry the legacy forward so that you prove loyal to your former colonists. UNESCO eventually designates the Pakistani bureaucracy, a remnant of colonial rule, as a cultural heritage site that should be included in the travel itineraries of not only Pakistanis but also people from around the world.

This website is a travel guide for all, but especially for foreign tourists. If you’re from a first-world country and plan to visit Pakistan, you can’t miss this UNESCO-recognised hidden gem. Let us introduce you to the place known as the “Red Tape Heaven” (yes, a true heaven for all those who want to earn money without doing any work). Welcome to the Bureaucracy of Pakistan, a place where you get to experience time travel to the British-era administrative set-up. Immerse yourself in a real-time simulation of the centuries-old daftars of government officials, including the civil servants, also known as “Saabs” and Madams, who get saluted twice a day from their subordinates and sit behind piles of “files”, another unique characteristic of this Cultural Heritage Site.

They make people wait or stand in long queues for unnecessary photocopying and stapling of documents every single day. If you opt for the Premium Package of Visit, you also get the opportunity to sit on those old and dusty wooden chairs and benches so that you do not feel left out among the “poor and helpless” Pakistanis. Oh, and don’t worry! You will get a chance to go inside the office. This visit of yours will not end until you explore the most prized treasure of Pakistani bureaucracy, the “chai paani”“, or under-the-table negotiations. This is a special feature of this site, used mostly by the wealthy citizens to access instant services.

We hope that as a Pakistani, you now feel prouder, and as a foreigner, you are eager to visit Pakistan.

Pakistan Zindabad!
