The federal government has decided to keep petroleum prices unchanged for the next three days, while an increase in dealers’ profit margins has led to the cancellation of a planned nationwide strike.
Under the decision, petrol will remain at Rs325.43 per litre, while high-speed diesel will continue to cost Rs383.95 per litre until Monday.
The move comes a day after the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC), chaired by Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, approved an increase in the margin paid to petroleum dealers.
The ECC raised the margin by Rs1.34 per litre, taking it to Rs10 per litre.
Following the approval, the Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) withdrew its call for a strike, averting a potential disruption to fuel supplies across the country.
The association confirmed that the Rs1.34 increase had addressed one of its principal demands, with dealers now receiving a total margin of Rs10 on each litre of petroleum products sold.
