At least seven people were killed and three others injured in two explosions in the Merka Bera area of Bannu on Saturday, according to District Police Officer Yasir Afridi.
Police said the first blast occurred when a roadside improvised explosive device (IED) detonated as a passenger van travelling from Hathi Khel village to Bannu passed by, killing five people.
A second explosion struck the same location shortly afterwards, killing two people who had joined rescue efforts and damaging a vehicle. Three others were injured in the attacks.
The bodies of the victims and the injured were shifted to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Teaching Hospital for treatment and legal formalities.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the twin blasts, while further details are awaited.
