The death toll from Venezuela’s twin earthquakes has risen to 3,685, with 16,740 people injured and thousands still displaced, National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez said on Tuesday.
In an update posted on X, Rodriguez said 86,794 families have received assistance since the June 24 disaster. He added that 6,462 people have been rescued, while 856 buildings were damaged and 190 collapsed in the earthquakes.
Authorities have distributed more than 9,600 metric tons of food and 8.32 million litres of water to affected communities, while nearly 26,000 people have received medical treatment. A total of 87 temporary camps have been established for displaced residents.
Rodriguez said nearly 30,000 personnel, more than 28,000 volunteers and 4,388 international rescue workers remain involved in relief operations. Authorities have also recorded 1,076 aftershocks since the two powerful earthquakes, measuring magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5, struck the country just 39 seconds apart.
