Singer, activist and philanthropist Shehzad Roy, alongside comedian and actor Tabish Hashmi, has announced Zindagi Trust’s annual fundraising dinner tour across the United States, scheduled to take place from September 18 to 25.
The campaign aims to raise awareness about the importance of quality public education in Pakistan and support the organisation’s efforts to reform the country’s government school system.
In a video shared on Instagram, Roy highlighted the need to improve access to quality education and strengthen the teaching profession through better training and professional standards.
He said no child should have to struggle for the right to an education and stressed the importance of introducing proper licensing and qualifications for teachers.
“That time is not far when people in Pakistan won’t have to beg for education, and parents will be able to send their children to government schools with confidence, knowing they will learn from the best local teachers,” Roy said.
“We also need proper licensing and qualifications for teachers,” he added.
The fundraising tour will be held in several US cities and is intended to generate support for Zindagi Trust’s ongoing education reform initiatives in Pakistan.
