At least seven Iranian military personnel were killed in overnight US airstrikes on a military base in Bampur, southeastern Iran, the Iranian army said on Wednesday, according to the semi-official Tasnim News Agency.
The military said the attack targeted a base near the city of Iranshahr, with 13 missiles striking a guesthouse, guard posts and accommodation facilities in what it described as an effort to inflict maximum casualties.
Several other personnel were also wounded in the strikes, the army added.
Iranian authorities condemned the attack and warned of a “decisive response,” signalling the latest escalation in the growing military confrontation between Tehran and Washington.
The strike comes amid an intensifying exchange of attacks between the two countries, raising further concerns over regional stability and the risk of a broader conflict across the Middle East.
