US Strikes on Iran Kill 14 as Tensions Escalate

Jarida Report

At least 14 people were killed and 78 injured in US strikes across five Iranian provinces over the past two days, Iran’s Health Ministry said on Thursday, as tensions between Washington and Tehran continued to escalate.

Hossein Kermanpour, head of the ministry’s Public Relations and Information Center, said in a post on X that the attacks on July 8 and 9 left 47 people hospitalised, while the remaining injured had been discharged after receiving medical treatment.

Iran’s state news agency IRNA reported that three of the fatalities occurred in a strike near the southwestern city of Ahvaz, citing Khuzestan province’s deputy governor for security affairs, Valiollah Hayati.

The latest casualty figures come amid renewed hostilities following the collapse of a fragile ceasefire last month. The escalation began after the United States accused Iran of attacking commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, prompting successive US strikes on Iranian military targets along the country’s southern coast.
