Unofficial and provisional results from the first phase of the 2026 Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly elections began emerging on Monday, with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leading in several constituencies across Mirpur Division.
Early results indicate close contests involving the PML-N, PPP, Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and Jamaat-e-Islami in parts of Mirpur, Bhimber and Kotli. Election officials stressed that all results remain unofficial and subject to confirmation.
According to the latest available figures:
– In LA-1 Mirpur-1, PML-N candidate Izhar Sadiq was leading with 1,692 votes, ahead of PPP’s Muhammad Afsar Shahid with 1,482.
– In LA-2 Mirpur-2, PPP candidate Qasim Majeed led with 9,300 votes after results from 109 polling stations, while PML-N’s Azeem Bakhsh Chaudhry had 5,400.
– In LA-3 Mirpur-3, PML-N’s Chaudhry Muhammad Saeed was ahead with 994 votes after results from four of 161 polling stations.
– In LA-4 Khari, PML-N candidate Chaudhry Rukhsar Ahmed led with 7,997 votes, followed by PPP’s Chaudhry Sohaib Arshad with 4,645.
– In LA-5 Bhimber-1, PML-N candidate Waqar was leading with 19,032 votes after results from 99 of 176 polling stations, ahead of PPP’s Chaudhry Pervaiz Ashraf with 15,493.
– In LA-6 Bhimber-2 (Samahni), PML-N’s Muhammad Razaq led with 18,336 votes, while IPP’s Ali Shan had 9,775.
– In LA-7 Bhimber-3 City, PML-N candidate Chaudhry Tariq Farooq was ahead with 14,569 votes, while independent candidate and former AJK prime minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was third with 9,280.
– In LA-8 Kotli-1 (Raj Mahal), PPP’s Malik Zafar Iqbal led with 4,851 votes, ahead of PML-N’s Malik Nawaz on 3,615.
– In LA-9 Kotli-2 (Nakyal), PML-N candidate Umair Naeem was leading with 5,651 votes, while PPP’s Javed Budhanvi had 3,551.
– In LA-10 Kotli-3, PPP candidate Chaudhry Muhammad Yasin led with 6,999 votes, ahead of PML-N’s Raja Fateh Mehmood with 3,560.
– In LA-12 Kotli-5, PPP’s Chaudhry Yasin was leading with 2,613 votes, compared with 1,255 for PML-N’s Raja Riasat.
– In LA-13 Kotli-6 (Khoi Ratta), IPP candidate Ansar Abdali was ahead with 8,695 votes, followed by PPP’s Waleed Inqlabi with 7,676.
The Election Commission has yet to announce official results, and counting remains underway across the constituencies.
