The Financial Times was told by a senior Trump administration official that discussions were happening between the United States and Saudi Arabia about signing something when the Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman arrives in Washington next month. FT also said that this deal was similar to the US-Qatar pact that promised to treat any armed attack on Qatar as a threat to the United States. This happened after Israel attempted to kill Hamas leaders with an air strike on Doha.
The United States State Department told the Financial Times that defense co-operation with the Saudi Arabia was a “strong bedrock of our regional strategy,” but he did not reveal any details of the potential deal.
