Rangers, CTD Arrest Suspected TTP Member in Karachi

Jarida Report

Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) have arrested a suspected member of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) during a joint intelligence-based operation in Karachi, a Rangers spokesperson said on Sunday.

The suspect, identified as Shahzad alias Dunger, was detained in the Jacob Lines area of Jamshed Town, with authorities saying weapons and explosives were recovered from his possession.

According to the Rangers spokesperson, Shahzad was allegedly affiliated with the Mansoor group of the TTP and joined the organisation in 2025 after coming under the influence of its leader, Mansoor.

Investigators allege that Shahzad was subsequently assigned to collect funds for the group in Karachi.

The spokesperson said the suspect approached people in Manghopir and persuaded them to make monthly payments to the TTP. The money was allegedly collected and transferred to Waziristan using Easypaisa accounts supplied by Mansoor’s associate, Din Muhammad, who was based in Tank.

According to Rangers, Shahzad told investigators that the funds were ultimately transferred to Mansoor and used to finance terrorist activities.

Authorities have not yet provided further details about the weapons and explosives allegedly recovered during the operation.
