Two Pakistan Navy personnel martyred while patrolling at sea

ISLAMABAD: Two Pakistan Navy personnel were martyred while carrying out maritime patrol duties, the Navy’s Directorate-General of Public Relations said on Wednesday.

The personnel were identified as Shoaibur Rehman (PMA-IV) and Ghufran Nasar (PMT-II). According to the Navy, they were performing patrol duties at sea “to ensure security” when they lost their lives. No further details about the circumstances of the incident had been released at the time of the announcement.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf expressed sorrow over the deaths and offered condolences to their families. Senior Pakistan Navy officers attended the funeral prayers and met relatives of the two sailors.

The announcement comes while the Navy is maintaining heightened maritime patrols and escort operations around Pakistan’s sea lanes amid continuing security concerns and disruption to commercial shipping in the Gulf and Arabian Sea.
