Two Female Students Killed in Attack on Girls’ College in Nushki, Says Balochistan CM

Jarida Report

QUETTA: Two female students were killed in an attack on the Government Girls’ Degree College in Nushki district, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti said on Wednesday, blaming the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

Addressing a news conference in Quetta, Bugti condemned the attack and questioned the motive behind targeting female students. He said the perpetrators were seeking to obstruct education and deprive children of learning opportunities.

According to initial reports, four armed, masked men arrived at the college on two motorcycles, damaged two CCTV cameras and vandalised the principal’s office before threatening students and opening fire.

Three female students were injured in the shooting and taken to hospital for treatment. Two later died from their injuries, according to the chief minister.

Bugti vowed that those responsible would be brought to justice and said the provincial government would continue pursuing the perpetrators.

He said targeting unarmed female students was contrary to Baloch traditions and values, questioning why anyone would seek to deprive Baloch girls of education.

The chief minister also ruled out shutting down educational institutions in response to terrorist threats, saying the government remained committed to ensuring that schools, colleges and universities continued operating despite security challenges.
