Spain Cruise Past France to Reach 2026 World Cup Final

Jarida Report

Spain secured their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup final with a commanding 2-0 victory over France on Tuesday at Dallas Stadium in the United States.

La Roja broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute after Lucas Digne fouled Lamine Yamal inside the penalty area. Mikel Oyarzabal calmly converted the resulting penalty, blasting his effort into the top corner beyond goalkeeper Mike Maignan.

Spain dominated much of the first half, controlling possession and creating the better chances, while France struggled to impose themselves against a disciplined Spanish side.

Defensively, Aymeric Laporte delivered an impressive display alongside Pau Cubarsí, helping neutralise one of the tournament’s most potent attacking teams despite Marc Cucurella playing on an early booking.

Spain doubled their advantage in the 58th minute with a well-worked team move. Pedro Porro combined brilliantly with Dani Olmo, whose perfectly weighted reverse pass sent Porro through on goal to finish calmly past Maignan.

The victory sends Spain into the World Cup final, where they will face the winner of the second semifinal between England and Argentina. France, meanwhile, will contest the third-place playoff on Saturday.
