Jannik Sinner successfully defended his Wimbledon title on Sunday, battling back from a set down to defeat French Open champion Alexander Zverev in a gripping four-set final and claim his fifth Grand Slam crown.
The world No. 1 overcame a tightly contested opening set to win 6-7 (7/9), 7-6 (7/2), 6-3, 6-4 in three hours and 46 minutes, producing a clinical display on Centre Court.
After dropping the first-set tiebreak, Sinner gradually took control of the match, wearing down Zverev with relentless baseline hitting and exceptional consistency. The Italian finished with 58 winners against just 25 unforced errors.
The victory marks Sinner’s second consecutive Wimbledon title and his fifth Grand Slam championship, moving him to within two major titles of rival Carlos Alcaraz.
It also represented Sinner’s 100th career match win at Grand Slam tournaments, while ending Zverev’s impressive 13-match winning streak at the majors.
The triumph completes an impressive turnaround for Sinner, who bounced back from his shock second-round exit at last month’s French Open to reaffirm his status as the world’s top-ranked player.
