The Trump administration imposed sanctions on two of Russia’s biggest oil companies as it told Moscow to agree to an immediate ceasefire in the war with Ukraine. President of the United States Donald Trump had shown he could impose penalties against Russia for continuing the war but did not take major disciplinary measures until Wednesday. In the Oval Office, Trump said he “felt it was time” for the sanctions, explaining that he “waited a long time” to impose them.
