Police Seal Gulistan-e-Jauhar Guesthouse as Mir Raza Ali Murder Probe Widens

Jarida Report

Police sealed a guesthouse in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on Monday and detained several people for questioning as investigators intensified their probe into the killing of businessman Mir Raza Ali.

According to police, six employees of the guesthouse were taken into custody, while four people who arrived at the premises in a Suzuki Swift were also detained for questioning.

Authorities said a total of 19 people are currently being questioned in connection with the case. Those detained are also expected to be questioned by the newly constituted investigation team.

The latest development comes as police expand efforts to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s disappearance and subsequent death.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Mir Raza’s father, Mir Hussain, said the family had been informed of the Sindh government’s proposal to establish a judicial commission but had told the provincial home minister that it did not accept the proposal at this stage.

He also said the family had not been informed about the investigation involving the Gulistan-e-Jauhar guesthouse and questioned why CCTV footage from the premises had not been released.

Police had earlier decided to constitute a five-member investigation team to conduct a fresh probe into the case.

The Sindh government subsequently announced plans to seek the formation of a judicial commission headed by a Sindh High Court judge to oversee the investigation into Mir Raza Ali’s killing.
