DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Police repelled an attack by militants belonging to the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) on a checkpost in the Daraban area of Dera Ismail Khan, officials said.
According to police, the militants targeted the checkpost with heavy weapons, prompting personnel deployed there to return fire.
An exchange of fire followed, after which the attackers retreated from the area, officials said.
Police reported no casualties among their personnel during the attack.
Authorities did not immediately provide details about possible casualties among the attackers or the number of militants involved in the assault.
