Police Intervene Over Unauthorized Video During Mir Raza Ali Exhumation

Jarida Report

Police intervened on Saturday after a woman was allegedly found recording the exhumation of entrepreneur Mir Raza Ali from a house overlooking Society Cemetery on Tariq Road.

Mir Raza’s body was exhumed under a court order as part of the continuing investigation into his death. A medical board collected samples from his remains for a fresh forensic examination aimed at establishing further evidence surrounding the cause and circumstances of his death.

During the procedure, Mir Raza’s family raised concerns after noticing a woman allegedly filming the exhumation from a neighbouring property. His parents demanded that the recording be deleted.

Police personnel subsequently entered the house, and a female police officer escorted the woman outside. Officers examined her mobile phone and had the footage of the exhumation deleted.

Strict security arrangements were in place at the cemetery, where members of the medical board, Mir Raza’s family and their lawyer Jibran Nasir were present. A magistrate, the police surgeon and the head of the identification project also attended the proceedings.

The medical team collected several samples, including DNA material from Mir Raza’s remains, and decided to obtain DNA samples from his parents for comparison.

Officials said different aspects of the remains would undergo specialist examination, with members of the medical board carrying out their respective assessments as part of the fresh post-mortem investigation.
