The fresh forensic examination of Mir Raza Ali’s remains could help establish whether the young entrepreneur died by suicide or was murdered, his family’s lawyer Jibran Nasir said on Saturday following the exhumation.
Speaking to reporters after the procedure, Nasir said the body was sufficiently preserved for the eight-member medical board to collect the evidence required for further forensic analysis.
He said the examination should help move the investigation away from speculation and competing theories towards evidence-based conclusions.
“There is no need to run around in different directions anymore,” Nasir said, criticising what he described as previous speculation, rumours and guesswork surrounding the case.
Mir Raza’s father also expressed hope that the fresh investigation would establish the circumstances of his son’s death and lead to justice.
According to sources familiar with the initial medical report, Mir Raza had sustained a gunshot wound to the back, while signs described as possible evidence of torture were also noted on his body.
Officials said the forensic team had addressed 14 points raised for examination, with the findings potentially leading investigators to broaden the scope of the inquiry.
The medical board is now preparing its detailed report, while 17 samples collected during the exhumation have been preserved for further forensic and laboratory analysis.
