A fresh post-mortem examination of Wafflix owner Mir Raza Ali was completed on Saturday after an eight-member medical board exhumed his body at a cemetery on Karachi’s Tariq Road as part of the ongoing investigation into his death.
Professor Dr Naseem Ahmed, a member of the medical board, told reporters after the procedure that samples had been collected from the remains and sent for laboratory testing.
The samples have been preserved for a series of forensic examinations, including DNA testing and chemical analysis, which are expected to assist investigators in establishing further details surrounding Ali’s death.
The exhumation and fresh autopsy had originally been scheduled for Friday but were delayed after Ali’s family objected to changes in the composition of the medical board. The original eight-member panel was subsequently restored, allowing the procedure to go ahead on Saturday.
Dr Naseem said a judicial magistrate and the police surgeon supervised the exhumation, post-mortem examination and subsequent reburial of the body.
The medical board will now await the results of the laboratory examinations before finalising its findings.
